Hello,
I am a 3rd year Building Surveying student, I have been thinking about my dissertation and have found a topic that I find interesting. I was wondering whether it would be suitable to write about the London 2012 Olympic games and the current issues regarding whether the buildings are sustainable and enviromentaly friendly from a built enviroment perspective, looking into the methods and materials used in this project, in addition to the regeneration of certain areas. I thought I might also be able to compare sustainablity of the London buildings to those from previous Olympic games, eg. Beijing. I’m not sure what the best angle to approach the topic would be, how to formulate a specific research question about it, or even if it is a good topic for a dissertation for a building surveying student? Any ideas or advice would be really helpful.
Many thanks,
Ben

Hello All
I am currently studying my final year at university at it is now time to produce my dissertation, I have decided to undertake my research in to the field of sustainability and hope to look into the use of environmental performance assessment, such as BREEAM to overcome barriers to constructing sustainably.
I am hoping that this is suitable topic and would like to know what you think of the idea. Do you think this broad subject and maybe need tailoring to a specific area i.e materials? and also are environmental assessment designed to overcome all barriers?
I would appreciate any feedback.
