New member here, please excuse me if I’m in the wrong place.
I hope someone can help or give advice.
We are trying to buy a house, in South East London. firstly the survey we had done came back to say that there was asbestos in the walls, and therefore the mortgage was not going to be authorized. We had an asbestos survey done, and the asbestos is only on the outside, in panels, and not damaged, so of low risk.
We asked round other mortgage lenders, who said that’s fine they’d lend.
so far not too bad.
then however we get told by the surveyor that on doing some further investigation on his own he’s found out that the house was built by someone/some company called Lowel (sp?), and that everything they built is falling down, and no one will lend on any of his properties.
we will probably going to have to pull out of the sale, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything more about this, if it’s true, how often this kind of thing happens etc.
house was built round about 1979. 3 story, timber cladding.
Thanks in advance
